The Cubs were kind enough to come back in this one and take it to extra innings – great for the Blogathon – but they were not kind enough to, you know, win.
Travis Wood gave up a few runs early on some well-sequenced hits, but he really didn’t pitch all that badly. He struck out 11, which I believe is a career high for him. All in all, hopefully it’s a confidence-builder for him.
Cubs used four relievers in this one, by the way – none was Chris Rusin.
He couldn’t do it a second time in the 10th, but …
