Kyle Hendricks grew up in the greater Los Angeles area (which, admittedly, seems to include all of Southern California, parts of Northern Mexico, and, believe it or not, Hawaii), so tonight’s start will be something of a homecoming for him.
And, for fans, it’ll be a chance to see him pitch against a very strong lineup, which will test his style. Hendricks will always, by his nature, allow a fair number of balls in play, and a lineup like the Dodgers’ is the kind that can hurt him if he’s not locating his pitches very well. You’ve been warned.
Offensively, the Cubs will go with a familiar set of dudes, being that Emilio Bonifacio sat out the last two games he was with the Cubs anyway. That is to say, Arismendy Alcantara is leading off and playing second base again, and the rest flows from there.
