That's what I thought, too.

I was reading on Puckerpants today and thought of this TFM kid. As annoying as I found him, he has this much over the old gaurd sports writer. His knows that his "words can spread instantaneously, and, (he) understand(s) the currency of the Internet – links – (he's) crazy, super excited when something (of his) is linked on a site like Bleacher Nation."
Granted the old horses still have the old troughs in place, therefore they feel they have something to lose, where that kid has nothing to lose (except maybe his virginity--someday). But sources of value and sources for compensation are moving, for better or for worse away from those old ones; unless, like the kid knows, and Brett stressed in today's article on the meta site, they tap into (and, like Brett (and many posters here) contribute in) the changing stream.
TFM was just trying to increase clicks on his (mom's?) site by dipping into some of BN's traffic. He stayed on Cubs' topic superficially and probably drove up hits at his site by his antics here enough that he skipped school today to watch his value climb to three figures.
(I should add, I cared enough to merely check what his name was linked to, copy paste it into Google, and NOT click on the site itself--I was curious, but I was pissed that he was using this site that way. I don't feel the same way about other (I assume unpaid) contributers to this site who provide hyperlinks to their offsite stuff.)

Bleacher Nation is not affiliated in any way with Major League Baseball or the Chicago National League Ballclub (that's the Cubs).
