A win! A win!
The Cubs broke their seven-game losing streak, jumping out to a six-run lead and surviving a couple bullpen hiccups. Felix Doubront was effective, even as he allowed a ton of balls in play (wanna know what a .190 BABIP looks like? that’s what he was sporting for the game). But, hey, if you throw strikes and keep the ball down, often good things happen.
Offensively, the Cubs got another dinger from Javier Baez (his only hit in the game, which featured a couple strikeouts – Javy gonna Javy for now … though both were looking, and both featured really questionable calls), and a big night from Matt Szczur.
Which means I have to do this, and I hate myself for it …
