They were last night’s heroes, but they’ll be watching the action tonight.
After winning last night’s game with a walk-off homer in his first game back from a lengthy absence with a lower back strain, Anthony Rizzo is out of the lineup again tonight. But before you hit the panic button that summons a robotic gorilla to punch you repeatedly in the groin (why did I even install that thing?), calm thyself:
#Cubs say planned day off for Rizzo; no new concerns with back.

Whew.
But what about that other hero? The guy who saved the game in the 8th inning with a running catch and subsequent collision with the bricks? Well, Arismendy Alcantara is out of the lineup tonight, too:
No Alcantara. His right wrist is a little sore after his crash into OF wall Monday. He was wearing a wrap on it last night #Cubs

Mostly I’m just bummed for Alcantara, who is going through his adjustment process this year and hopefully will not miss much time or deal with any lingering effects. No sense in risking anything, though.
In the long-term, as much as I love the bricks and ivy, it would be swell if the Cubs could figure out a way to get some “historic” padding there on the wall. Maybe get the ivy to cross-breed with some gym mats.
