Corey Dickerson is putting up better-than-Rizzo's-last-year-numbers in the PCL this season and since he profiles to take over in LF, I'm assuming the Rockies want to trade an outfielder to make room for him. They could get a nice haul for Carlos Gonzalez. He has only not had a hit in 2 games this year. Here are his numbers:

28 G, 121 PA, 43 H, 9 2B, 6 3B, 3 HR, 23 R, 17 RBI, 3 SB / 7 CS, 14 SO, 6 BB

.377/.405/.640/1.045, .263 ISO, 6.6 SPD, .408 BABIP, .449 wOBA, 168 RC+.

Todd Helton is/should be retiring and they always need pitchers in Colorado. So, if we're going after Dickerson, I think Daniel Vogelbach and a few older pitchers should do it. If the Rockies want to keep him and trade Carlos Gonzalez, we'd need to do better, because his contract is reasonable at '14: $10.5M, '15: $16M, '16: $17M, and '17: $20M. $1M assignment bonus if traded, so I guess the Rockies would pay that. Michael Cuddyer would have one year left on his contract, so if they're out of it early, I think they'll move him and put CarGo in RF.

Assuming we trade Alfonso Soriano this season or this off season, we would have a respectable offense if we can get one of those guys and sign a lead off hitter...

Does anybody know why Tyler Colvin and his .858 OPS last season is toiling away in the minors for the Rockies?  Disciplinary thing?  I haven't seen any reports and he's hitting pretty well down there too while making $2.25 million.  Weird.

He could wind up being an option at first when Helton is gone.

I'm sorry, but this just isn't going to happen next year and probably never.

Dickerson is very interesting and it would be interesting to see him outside of Colorado in age-appropriate leagues.  Unfortunately he doesn't walk much, but that power is intriguing.

I wouldn't go so far as probably never yet, but guys who strikeout 30% of the time in A ball do not start in the majors the following season.

Corey Dickerson is 9 months younger than Brett Jackson.

Realistic 2014:

2B Logan Watkins (L) / Darwin Barney

3B Luis Valbuena (L) / Junior Lake

1B Anthony Rizzo (L)

CF Jorge Soler

RF Corey Dickerson (L)

LF Alfonso Soriano

SS Starlin Castro

C Welington Castillo

I hate putting Soler in CF, but if Soriano sticks around and we acquire Dickerson, he'd be a better CF'er.

Bruce Levine says that both the Cubs and Soriano know that it'd be better for both parties if he's on another team by the trade deadline. Ask Marmol about the experience playing where you're not wanted.

2013: August

1. RF Szczur / CF Borbon (L)

2. 3B Valbuena (L) / 3B Vitters

3. 1B Rizzo (L)

4. LF Dickerson (L)

5. SS Castro

6. CF Jackson (L) / RF Hairston

7. C Castillo / Navarro (S)

8. 2B Watkins (L) / 2B Barney

SP Samardzija

SP Jackson

SP Wood (L)

SP Baker (just a guess he'll clear trade waivers)

SP Trade Return or Guillermo Moscoso
