One more update on this.  Oklahoma won their regionals which means that Gray will not pitch again until Super Regionals, which don't start until Friday.  That will be after the draft starts Thursday so we won't have a chance to see him pitch again before then.  It would make watching him through the rest of the CWS fun if the Cubs end up taking him.

As for the 2 big hitters, neither had great regional games.  In fact Bryant was fairly disappointing.  San Diego was eliminated tonight so we also will not see Bryant play again before the draft.  His CWS line ends up 2 for 13, 1R, 4BB, 3K.  The 4 walks stand out but otherwise pretty underwhelming.

Colin Moran and North Carolina will play 1 last regional pre-draft game Monday night at 6pm ET on ESPN3.  His CWS stat line so far is 3 for 13, 1K , 2BB, 1RBI.  I would imagine there will be a plethora of scouts at that game tomorrow, since he'll be the highest ranked potential draftee still in game action before the draft.

I wouldn't expect any of these performances to have much if any impact on their draft selection.  It's more just a last chance opportunity for us to see them in game action and on a higher-pressure stage before the draft.

North Carolina moved on to the super-regionals with a 13 inning win last night.  So like Gray and Oklahoma, Colin Moran will continue to play.  He was 1 for 5 with a double and 3 walks in last night's game.

There are no more CWS games until Friday, and although the draft will still be going by then the big names will already be drafted.  So it's in the hands of the brass and scouts now.  But I will probably start a new thread with Cubs-only drafted players that are still in the CWS (if there are any) for those interested in getting some early looks at whoever they pick.  Like the regionals last weekend, all of the CWS games moving forward will be televised as well.

Moran's been mired in something of a slump the past couple of weeks. Fair to wonder if he's having trouble against the higher caliber of pitcher that he's been seeing a steady diet of through the ACC tourney and Regionals.

At the same time though, he hasn't really looked bad at the plate, just hasn't been getting the balls to fall into gaps like he's been doing consistently throughout the year. Just something to wonder about, especially with a guy who doesn't have the raw tools that you'd like.

That would be a good thread topic, Dustin!

Just to close out this thread, this year's CWS is down to the last 14 teams but unfortunately none of the Cubs draftees are on any of those 14.  So we'll just have to wait and see our newest Cubs in the minors.

No, but Indiana swept Florida State this past weekend and is heading to Omaha.

Yeah, baby, yeah.
