I believe if the Royals and Indians are still in it come the trade deadline, they will want to make some moves to stay relevant. 2 names that pop out to me
Yordano Ventura from KC-Not sure what it would cost to get him, but read up on him and sounds like an absolute stud with an 8/8 fastball but is only 5'11 so I am sure there is some speculation for his size. Also, on he's the Royals #3 prospect so it might cost more than we really want but maybe a Scott Feldman if he continues his success?
Danny Salazar from CLE-Yes he has had tommy john surgery which I'm sure will scare some people, but we were all stoked when we got Vizcaino for Maholm and Salazar is fully healed from the procedure. Like Ventura he is a little undersized (6'0) but his numbers this season have been very good between AA and AAA (2-3 2.11ERA 42.2 IP 60/14 K/BB). Maybe Soriano would accept a trade to the Indians if they are still in contention, Feldman or maybe even some bullpen help like Marmol or Russell?
If the Cubs could somehow trade for these two guys without giving up Garza, it would put them in a great position to either extend Garza while getting reputable prospects that could have an immediate impact, or trade Garza for more top prospects who are almost MLB ready and go from there.
