This puts payroll around $80M including the $10M we eat on Soriano's contract, giving us plenty of room to acquire one of the "ace" arms that could be (if they reach free agency) available in 2015, although we'd have Vizcaino, Hendricks, and I'm sure a few surprises MLB-ready by then. Not to mention the #2 pick we have this year in the draft, which will certainly be a college prospect, who could only require one year in the farm system.

You definitely know your prospects....

Price velocity drop scares me...

I really don't think Profar gets traded...

I really wish this could happen, but Rangers won't trade Profar for 3 months of Garza. I think it's even more unrealistic to trade Lake and Jackson for Price. They would demand 2 of 3 of soler, baez and Almora. I DO think they could get Ventura for maybe Feldman and add ons, but that's a stretch and if KC continues struggling, they won't be looking to add a rental for a wasted season.

The Rangers would basically be dealing for a World Series run and this trade gives them 3 things: the negotiating rights to an extension on Garza (or being tied to the illustrious draft pick compensation after a qualifying offer has been turned down); an extra year of Alfonso Soriano on an $8M salary, which gives them the luxury of having a LF/DH type that will be there in 2014 if Berkman decides to retire (or doesn't vest his option); and a bullpen arm that has been surprisingly reliable this year for minimum salary.

Sending DeJesus and Villanueva to Kansas City gives them two roster spots in 2014, regardless if they can cover ground in the AL Central this year. Adding Villanueva and DeJesus now, sends the "problems" to either AAA, the bullpen, or a platoon in Francoeur's case, since he can only hit LHP. Feldman serves no purpose in Kansas City unless they think they can extend him cheaply and trade Gutierrez. Either way, Davis goes to the bullpen where he's had success before and makes them a better team.

The only reason we'd be trading for Price is the fact that his trade value is at an all-time low. We'd be giving up prospects that may have a better chance at success in a different farm system. I think Junior Lake could be a solid right fielder once Zobrist's time in Tampa is done. Myers, Jennings, and Lake could be a productive OF for years to come and the Rays always seem to have one eye on the future (Joyce or Myers could DH). The bonus with Lake is that he can play 3B/SS in a pinch if Longoria gets hurt, they want to platoon him with Hak-Ju Lee, or a bat off of the bench.

If Garza is traded this summer, the draft pick compensations doesn't apply does it?  Isn't this the last year of his deal?

Profar isnt going to be traded especially for that junk offer

Still doubt the Royals deal their #2 prospect for a fringe starter and a platoon guy

Will get a ton better of a prospect than Dickerson for Feldman

And that TB trade is just awful. They get nothing of value for one of the best pitchers in the game
