I don’t want to get into the details, because I’m a little bummed about it, but I won’t be staying at the new Sheraton being opened right there at Cubs Park Sloan Park in Mesa when I head to Spring Training this year. Suffice it to say, I knew the thing would fill up immediately when they started taking reservations, and did my best to try and get a reservation in time for Spring Training. No dice.
So, my fall-back option is slightly less walkable, but still fairly close, and I’m all booked: March 9 through March 18. If you’re going to be in Arizona for any of that stretch, I hope to see you at the games and/or at the back fields watching the youngsters.
If you’re planning to go to games at Sloan Park, be advised that Spring Training tickets go on sale on Saturday (January 10) at 11am CT. I don’t know if there was a push immediately last year, but I do know that many games sold out eventually at the new ballpark, and interest could be at least as high this year.
You can get tickets online at www.cubs.com, over the phone at 1-800-THE-CUBS (800-843-2827), or in person at Sloan Park (2330 W. Rio Salado Parkway Mesa, AZ) (if you are actually in Arizona right now, I kind of hate you).
