I was thinking this morning that the criticism leveled at George R.R. Martin is valid of the ever expanding, never ending, snails pace narrative after the third book...but really, the problem is a derivative of what I think is his genius...how many stories have as many interesting characters as this?
Let me show you what I mean....
A+ REALLY GREAT CHARACTERS- Jon, Tyrion, Jamie, Danarius, Arya, Joffrey, Drogo(RIP), Cersai
ONE NOTCH BELOW- Tywin, Samwell, Ned and Robert(RIP), Stannis, Davos, Melisandre, Theon, Brienne
GREAT SUPPORTING CHARACTERS- the Mountain and the Hound, Varys, Littlefinger, the Boltons, old
lady Tyrell, Bronn, Mance Rayder, Barristan Selmy, the Direwolves, Walder Frey, Balon Greyjoy
I left out Sansa and Bran...as they are my least favorite characters...but even some of the Bran stuff is cool...
Think of it this way...compare GOT to the Star Wars universe...and I love Star Wars...saw the first one when I wad 8...but Martin's characters are so much more interesting...
Sorry, just had to let my inner nerd out a bit today
