New Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon, among other things, is exceedingly charitably minded. He just seems like a good guy, who really likes to help a good cause.
So it’s not really a surprise that he’s bringing a variation on something he used to do in Tampa Bay with him to the Cubs: a good old fashioned head shaving.

We have great hair on this team and great hearts, which is why we are shaving our heads for pediatric cancer research 3/22. #LetsGive

You can read more about the Respect Bald event here at Cubs.com, but the short version is that Maddon, some Cubs players and staff, will be shaving their heads on March 22 to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer victims and research. The Cubs play at home against the Padres that day, and I believe there will be ways to contribute at the game.
As more details become available, I’ll share them here in case there’s a way for folks to get involved from afar.
