On the Cubs #44........

 The Forgotten Story of #44
Phil Cavarretta’s #44 was retired in 1954, but shortly after the Cubs announced this honor, he was fired by P. K. Wrigley after the two had a behind the scenes disagreement with the Cubs owner. Right after that, Cavarretta committed the greatest sin of all and signed with the White Sox. He fell out of favor with the Wrigleys and the number was not “officially” retired. Number 44 later was given toBurt Hooton in 1971, but only after clubhouse manager Yosh Kawano personally spoke to Phil Cavarretta to receive his permission. It’s been worn by 14 other players since.

It's going to be nice when we start having quality players come up from the minors.

I'd cheer him on, but can't drink my beer and head-scratch at the same time....lol.

Blast by Alvarez. Seeing the cubs can't score for shit, hate to see them fall behind. Jackson has looked good today, made one bad pitch there and it was tattooed. Otherwise this is the best he's looked all season.

Now that I said that he'll get lit up next inning. Sorry fellas.

Ha!  Try drinking your beer, head scratch, AND typing on the keyboard!  Although lately it seems I've just been holding the cold beer to my forehead and typing with one finger  - after enough beer you stop trying to figure it out so need to scratch.
