Whats your Prospect Ranking (before Luke's comes out on Sunday)
Posted 11 July 2013 - 10:09 PM
Baez, Bryant, Soler, Blackburn, Vogelbach, Almora, Alcantara, Lake, Pierce Johnson, Paniagua...
Yes, I put the pitchers high, I just base that on my opinion that its harder to project MLB hitters

I'm gonna list my top prospects basically based upon nothing more than what I read here and some other places. I'm curious to see what I and the rest of the MB gets and how close we are to Luke's list on Sunday.
1. Javier Baez
I think Luke might stick with Soler here, but with Baez up and Soler out I think this is my stance
2. Kris Bryant
I don't know? I've never seen him play, but I have drooled over his stats, skills, and reports. Seems like a fair bet.
3. Jorge Soler
The ceiling and floor are still there and he still has a chance to move quickly through the system. His demotion in the rankings is more so due to Baez's growth, Bryant's entrance on to the scene, and Soler's lack of play.
4. Albert Almora
Alright, you knew this one was coming. What is there to say that hasn't been said. lower ceiling than the first three, but a higher floor than them as well.
5. Aroldis Vizcaino
I know he's out and has been hurt for some time, but the upside remains so high that I can't mov him down further.
6. Arismendy Alcantara
This guy has been cruising lately. I'm not sure if he's anywhere close to the impact guy the first 5 guys are, but I feel confident he will make the show soon and stay for a while.
7. Pierce Johnson
He's guy who was well thought of coming into the season and has not disappointed thus far. He's doing quite well at his level, and I expect a promotion later this season (to where ? when? why? all question I do not know)
8. Dan Vogelbach
Again, if you're reading this post you probably frequent the message board and therefore know all there is to say about this guy. I think his power and hit tool are dreamy and will carry him far.
9. Juan Carlos Panigua (JCP!)
After a long awaited arrival, I expect big things from JCP. He was well thought of coming into the season, and he will have to show why he should remain that way after missing significant time.
10. Kyle Hendricks
Kyle is killing it at AA, and I hope to see him up sometime late this summer.
Just Missed (in no particular order)
Josh Vitters (lol)
Brett Jackson (LOL!!! but also
Alright guys, what do ya got? Well compare after Luke's List (idea for a prospect rating blog?) comes out.
I would switch who the guys are at 5 and 6. This is a who has done what for me lately kind of world. Otherwise, I agree.

The first 7 are sure to be top 100 in baseball, IMO, and the bottom 3 have either been top 100 or have the potential talent to be..

I personally tend to value guys that have a higher floor or some outstanding tool that at least leaves them as a role player in the show.
Kris Bryant is just behind these guys until he gets a month or so of game action and we can see how he does. (Hopefully not flip out if he only walks a couple times)
Pierce Johnson - Good Velocity with 3 pitches? Please probably a fifth starter right now.
Alberto Cabrera - Transition back to a starter has gone well and at worst he's a setup guy that throws 98mph with movement. IMO he's done the most to help his career this year.
Vizcaino - If only he were healthy
Arismendy Alcantara- Power is a surprise this season but he still had a bit of a breakout last year so this is less of a surprise. If he had better defense at shortstop then we'd be talking about a very top guy here(maybe).
Vogelbach! -Bring that DH to the NL!
Paul Blackburn and Duane Underwood, JCP, Zastryngz...ysomething, Peralta, etc type of pitchers are going to round out the list.
Just missing are the plethora of 4th outfielder/infielder (Bjax-Ha-Szczur-Lake-Watkins etc)
