So if hes becomes a free agent, what would you guys offer for him to become a Cub?

I would offer 5yrs $125M. Anyone else agree? Would you go higher?

I would have a tough time going 5 years on a 32 year old. I wouldn't mind seeing them go 4 yrs at $100 M.

He turns 32 in June of next year. 5/$100 million wouldn't be outrageous for Sabathia. Not sure I could go up to $25 mill per.

Yeah. But thats probably ganna be the price since there is like no good SP in free agency. I'd love it if we could land him for 5/100M, but something tells me we won't. :(

He's only going to opt out to get more money out of the Yankees, they are the only team that can afford him

Just imagine if the Phillies splurged to get him. We could afford him, but it would take a huge chunk of change from the money coming off the books.

He'll be 32, but his arm could be around 40. He has thrown a lot of inning, if he's not the rare, super durable type, signing him to big money, long term could be inviting disaster.
