Hey, that’s kind of a sweep!
Jake Arrieta cruised the first time through the Reds’ order, but ran into serious trouble in the 5th inning when he loaded the bases with nobody out. He wound up walking three and giving up a hit in the frame, but allowed just one run. That was good fortune/skill to limit the damage, but it looked like it might end his day early.
But he came out for the sixth, got an incredible play behind him from Starlin Castro, and then struck out the next two guys.
He’s good.
Offensively, the Cubs did almost all of their damage in one well-orchestrated inning, with four runs coming in the fourth. The other run came on a solo homer from Miguel Montero.
