I thought about it and its really not one name that comes to mind. I would have to go with Castro but I wanted to hear other thoughts.

I'm also pretty sure Shark is the longest tenured Cub.

In all seriousness, it probably needs to be a player signed long term (there goes Samardzija) and a good consistent player (does consistent rule out Castro). That leaves the only options as Rizzo or Theo.

The face is up for grabs right now I think. It will probably go to whoever of Castro or Rizzo can emerge as the most popular/best player. Shark also has a chance if he signs an extension.

It also depends on what you define as "The Face".  If it's just a matter of who gets talked about the most, Theo or Castro.

I'd say Castro has been The Face of the Rebuild since he is the most often criticized player and seems to have bourne much of the angst of Cubs-dom in the past two years.

Rizzo is clearly the face of the New Regime.

If that is the case, Soriano has been the face of the franchise since he's been here and we all know that isn't accurate.

I agree in part with Hansman.

To me, the face is the new regime. Theo, Jed and co. But you can't really have the Face be the front office guys. Thus, it becomes Rizzo: his ties to the front office guys, his cancer story, his trade being the best early deal of the new regime, and his new contract make him (to me) the Face of the Chicago Cubs.

Why not?
