Shall we try this again?
The Cubs wrap up their rain-shortened series with the Royals today, with last night’s game getting pushed to September 28 (boy, that could be a really meaningful one-off game). Each of Yordano Ventura and Tsuyoshi Wada are still scheduled to start.
Wada gets his third start, and you can probably mark him down now for no more than five or six innings. The thinking seems to be: let him get through the lineup twice, and then get him out. That’s certainly in line with Wada’s performance last year, and it has worked so far. The bullpen, however, will have to be ready to do much more than it did on Friday.
Kendrys Morales gets the extremely rare defensive start at first base, so, you know, bunt the ball to first, boys.
Today’s is a throwback game, with the Whales (Cubs) taking on the Packers (Royals). That was supposed to be last night, but the Cubs pushed it to today.
