Does anyone think the coaches/front office asked him to change his approach at the plate and it broke him? That seems more likely to me than PED use or not playing hard anymore because he got a pay day. Maybe his kid is keeping him up at night, also.

That's kinda the point, there are so many other possibilities, to throw a PED accusation at him is ludicrous.

Agreed I'm not a fan of speculating about the infinite reasons Castro's slumping but making **wink wink nudge nudge** connection to PEDs is irresponsible on any level unless there is solid evidence connecting him to PED use.

This is the most likely reason for his struggles in my opinion.  I don't know if they "broke" him, but he is definitely struggling with the different approach.  I'm looking forward to seeing how he handles this offseason.

I have also wondered how much of the off-season rape accusation effected him. What did he not do in the off-season because of it? What kind of mind-set has he been in because of it?

That was last offseason, this offseason he had a kid.

there were two separate accusations I think.

If memory serves last year it was Marmol and this year it was Castro.

Back in 2010-2011 Dempster had a kid who turned out to have some serious medical issues and he had a terrible first half.  Not saying Starlin's kid has issues but I think it is more likely the baby momma is a raging b#%@h now with the kid than he used to take PED (not saying either is likely)
