The Cubs certainly left some easy runs on the bases in the early going against youngster Jose Urena, but they needed only the two they got in the first inning because Jason Hammel was filthy. James Russell, Pedro Strop and Travis Wood (eventually) finished things off, and held the Marlins to just the one run.
Offensively, the Cubs got contributions all around – including a homer from Starlin Castro in his new 6-hole – and tonight’s win was almost entirely without drama. Seems like the first one of those in a really long time. I will totally take it.
