This is a fairly accurate rosters/40-man + free agents/Rule 5 eligibles

Most of the FA/Rule 5's comes from The Cub Reporter's preseason list, so some players we've picked up might not be on the list.

So far, I don't see many of the minor league FA's and Rule 5 guys we'll bring back or protect.

Obviously, Alcantara is a must protect on the Rule 5. Jae-Hoon Ha is a likely protect IMO. I think we might protect Lendy Castillo as well, and maybe Paniagua if he is declared Rule 5 eligible. I think since Concepcion was put through waivers before, that we don't need to protect him. Peralta, I don't think we need to/want to.

Otherwise, I just don't see many must protects.

Free Agent-wise, some possible re-signings would be:

Ryan Sweeney

Dioner Navarro

Matt Guerrier

Kevin Gregg (if the price is right)

The minor league guys, I just don't see us bringing back.

Red = Free Agents

Blue = Rule 5

In the 40-man sheet, the bottom is a breakdown of who is under contract on the 40-man going into next year. Bolded are the 25-man roster players.

Thanks for posting that roster, interesting to look at.

I'm unclear on how the minor league portion works, but my understanding is that guys can be taken and promoted in the minors if at A/Rookie to AA, and AA or lower to AAA.  So maybe Gioskar Amaya goes to someone else's AA roster if he isn't protected, Jokisch to someone's AAA?

I don't know much about Zach Rosscup, but his numbers look solid this year, maybe he deserves a spot on the 40 man as I imagine someone sees value in him as a lefty out of the pen?

I'd be very surprised if Ha isn't added to the 40 man.
