Anybody else really feel let down so far this week. I totally planned on having to up my screen at least 20 times a day because there would be so much chatter. (Brett, not a slam at you at all, just nothing to write about) For a week that was supposed to be one of first real glimpes into the workings of our newly hired FO, this has been a let down, and it is already half over. I hope the next half is more exciting than the first.

I genuinely believe the Pujols thing held everyone else up. Even if half the teams/free agents were ready to roll, they couldn't do anything because the other half weren't.
We'll see what happens over the next couple days. As a person who geeks out over rumors/trades/signings/etc., I'm bummed. But I'm not yet worried about "the plan."

Going back to the original poster I think you are missing the forest for the trees, this IS how we should expect our new front office to be. Not the splashy big money deal types but looking for value like Stewart, Bianchi, etc. Doesn't mean we won't be signing big money free agents ever, I just don't expect them to sign guys that will be albatross contracts by the end of them.

I'm beginning to become skeptical that a Prince Fielder deal is going to happen. Why hasn't it gotten done yet? That's the big question. Word is the Mariners are now making a strong push for him.
If you watch Pujols, you will notice his numbers are still pretty much there but his weight is up. That is one thing I notice with players when I feel like they are losing that drive. Adam Dunn put on a lot of weight last season. Agree with it or not, weight is a big factor in baseball.
