Well, what do you know? The Cubs can actually win a series against the Dodgers today.

With EJax pitching?  Are you sure it's a possibility?

A bad call by the 1st base ump on what was definitely a swing by Puigs but called a checked swing and then a oust of Sveum for protesting his call. And just when the DP hinted there would be no score, Ramirez tags one out.  shit.

The problem is that there is no definition of what a check swing is in the rule book.  No matter what the umpire is technically right here, it's his judgement call to make if the batter "struck at the pitch"  MLB needs to fix that, but if they haven't defined it yet I don't have any hope that they will.

....another bad call against the Cubs by the home ump.......this is not looking good.  The umps are making this an uphill battle for our guys.

Could it be that the ump just missed looking carefully on that swing?  At least I prefer to believe that because the swing was enough through the strike zone.

Hendricks cruising for ICubs. The first inning saw three really weak hits and two of those should have been errors (1 by Hendricks himself).
