Although the Cubs didn’t ultimately win yesterday, they did manage to come back – on Johnny Cueto, no less – thanks in large part to a huge homer from Starlin Castro.
On a 1-2 count, Cueto hung one inside, and Castro hammered it down the line, right out of the ballpark:
From where we were sitting in right field, we had to wait for the folks in left to react before we knew if that one was going to stay fair.
That was Castro’s only hit of the game, but it was a big one. It extended his success here in June, upping his line for the month to .244/.279/.463. No, that doesn’t sound like much, and it’s merely a league-average 100 wRC+. But, when you’re at just 74 on the year, getting back to average is a start to turning things around.
