From what I saw of him in AAA he does not have the glove to up-seed Barney with those numbers. His spot on the 40 man roster is to valuable. Give it to the Goat. He gone!

I think those numbers indicate that Watkins is not a hitter in general; however, even adding those two together doesn't yield a highly significant sample.

I don't understand why he was called up to be a pinch hitter.

Must be they don't see him as a future starter anyway and want to see what he looks like with backup IF playing time.

I think the surprising run of Donnie Murphy has suppressed opportunities for Logan Watkins. That said, I would prefer they DFA Ransom and give a little time to Watkins.

wow this is ridiculous anyone who draws any conclusions based on 30 sporadic PA worth of data is an idiot.  This isnt a small sample size, this is an absurd sample size.  If you say this about Watkins, you might as well pencil in Murphy to hit like Miguel Cabrera for the rest of his career.

Let me start over...

Josh Vitters' struggles last year... Sveum marched him out there in September of last year in limited capacity, in favor of Valbuena and he struggled mightily.

Logan Watkins is not a pinch hitter. Sveum, so far, has marched him out there as a pinch hitter in favor of Barney at 2B. We need a long look, everyday to evaluate the kids to get a large sample size.

You are correct, WE need a large sample size to evaluate.  A coaching staff should be able to handle small sample sizes by having first hand scouting both on the field and in the batting cage along with the scouting reports of thousands of AB's in the minors.
