As a general fan of baseball, it’s hard not to like what the White Sox did over the offseason. They got a ton of young, impact talent – on both sides of the ball, no less – after finally trading some of their highly coveted players (Adam Eaton, Chris Sale, etc.), as many had long expected.
But it’s not as though they’re starting completely from scratch with the young guys. Back in 2014, for example, the Chicago White Sox signed infielder Eddy Alvarez to a Minor League deal and just back in January, outfielder Peter Bourjos joined the team in the exact same way.
And together, they did something pretty special yesterday – recording back-to-back inside-the-park home runs … er… sorta.

First, Bourjos took a 3-1 fastball to straight away center field for a triple. But when the ball came into third base it kicked away and Bourjos trotted home.
But then, just four pitches later, Alvarez stepped up and cranked a 1-2 fastball off the left field wall and raced home for the more traditional inside the parker.

In 2016, the White Sox become known for the uniquely high number of triple plays turned. So maybe 2017 will be the year of the uniquely high number of inside the park home runs.
Wouldn’t that be something?
