Welp. This is just my new favorite thing.
Remember the 2016 World Series? Sure you do. Everyone does, it was absolutely crazy. And in that craziness, I somehow managed to skip right past one of the most fun, creative baseball videos I’ve seen in a long while.
Are you familiar with the movies ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Major League?’
If you’re anything like me, those are two of your all-time favorite baseball flicks. The former follows a 12-year-old kid who becomes a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs after a broken arm leaves him with a 100+ MPH fastball. The latter follows some unwanted Cleveland Indian players as they try to squash the new owners’ hopes of tanking and moving the team to Miami. Major League may be a better overall movie, but Rookie of the Year has always struck a special chord with me, given my Chicago roots.
Anyhow, the funny people over at The Kicker were smart enough to realize that the teams featured in those two movies – Cubs and Indians – happened to play each other in one of the most exciting World Series of all time.
So, what did they do? They mashed them together!

The result is a uniquely suspenseful four-minute showoff between the protagonist of each team and movie. Even if you know both of these movies like the back of your hand, I’ll bet you’ll be dying to see what happens. And for the record, they made this before the end of the World Series, so don’t think you necessarily know how it’ll play out!
It’s Henry Rowengartner v. Jake Taylor who will come out on top?
