yeah..you get 34 of them somewhat quiet, with maybe a third of them paying attention, a third of them thinking of themselves, and a third of them thinking about the awful home life they have...and I am at a good school...low income about 5-7 percent....

I have only taught in low income, urban schools and in my new position I teach a few classes and then work on intervention strategies for students with a GPA below 2.0 I spend a lot of time on the phone and making home visits. I also have 12 9th grader who are currently pregnant. So I have 90% of the students I work for that don't want help, hate school, and have parents who are always working or don't care what their kids are doing, but I love what I do and can't imagine working in any other situation... But it does explain why I love my beer.yeah..you get 34 of them somewhat quiet, with maybe a third of them paying attention, a third of them thinking of themselves, and a third of them thinking about the awful home life they have...and I am at a good school...low income about 5-7 percent....

My hats are off to you gentlemen, at least you aren't teaching in Tennessee where we value our roads more than education. I have tremendous respect towards those in the education field. Keep fighting the good fight PLEASE!
Anyways. So I got home from work without reading the trade update. Now let me tell you guys that I liked Colvin a lot. Met the guy, talked to him and was just impressed with him. I do have a shirt with his name on the back because I liked the guy. Well my girlfriend stopped me when I got home and flat acted like a family member passed and asked me if I heard about the trade. Of course I said what trade and she told me what happened.
I seriously let out a Darth Vaderesque "Nooooooo."
Only because I liked the guy, but at the same time, shit has to happen to make the team better.
Whether or not if you like the trade that's fine.
But fuck if some people on Brett's post aren't having the most overdramatic hissy bitch fit if I have ever seen.
Jesus fucking Christ.
People saying they are done over one fucking trade. Seriously.
Even fucking Diehard of all people is saying to give management a chance.
Fuck me, but is it the end of days already?
Some people need to chill the fuck out.
/sorry, just venting to people who have some sort of sanity.
//I hope
///sorry for the Colvin mancrush story

I've started researching that kind of feature. It is getting rather disgusting out there. I know it is not possible, but I would trade Castro straight up for an "ignore" button.
(Don't get your hopes up, though.)

Chris I have these exact same discussion with my students EVERYDAY, my favorite when I ask someone to behave they look at me a say "I'm not bothering anybody" or when they swear and then say they can't get in trouble because "it's freedom of speech" And then they go home and troll on these boards.
Sounds like it is time for a civics lesson. Seriously, though, you two are doing something that I would love to do but don't have the patience, smarts or self-restraint to do (good God almighty don't make me punch you in the face, you 13 year old twit) I have been wanting to start my own blog for some time, some sort of man/dad blog, not a Jim Rome-esque, here are a bunch of half-naked women, fart jokes, and why you need to buy a $1500 suit to impress the ladies, but rather a blog on the shit our great-grandparents used to teach our grandparents and parents - why the Founding Fathers were great, why the world doesn't give you a participation trophy, how to change the oil in your car - and then I read this blog and waste my day away.
I miss the good ole' days of DH being the only troll on here...that was what, 2 months ago? Speaks volumes to the work you do Brett.
