Ok, so I am contemplating doing an upgrade on my phone (currently a 2-year old iPhone 4 that has mysteriously started failing me in certain things since I became upgrade eligible) and I'm not sure where to go next.

The masses say iPhone 5, I say the iPhone is grossly overrated (as in BluBlud's player evaluation skills overrated).  I saw the Droid DNA and it looks intriguing (and only $50).  I think I want something that does internet well (or at least google maps) but I'm not a gizmo-gadget freak.

Really, all I want is internet, Twitter and a platform for my son's games (3-year old).  I would stay with my iPhone but just recently texting people has become adventurous (Will the keyboard show up or not?  Will I be able to receive the text sometime?).

I faced a similar decision and chose the iPhone 5. I've got too many dollars in apps and realized Apple has my soul and it was useless to resist.

Ya, I'm a cheap bastard when it comes to phone apps. I think I have only 3-4 apps I've paid for.

I'm pretty happy with my Moto Droid Razr HD.  I took the slightly cheaper version, but even with the smaller batter I still only need to charge my phone every other day or so, and I use it a ton for email at work.

It also seems like I get Android updates faster than most other devices (which might have something to do with Google owning Motorola).

That said, my wife is extremely happy with her iPhone 5.

One thing that seems common with smartphones is that there aren't many models out there that cause people to run away screaming (outside of Windows phones, that is).

I'm upgrade eligible but I don't think I'm going to do anything for another year until I see the iphone 6.  I'll be an iphone addict indefinitely.

That's basically where I'm at. I originally had the 3G and didn't upgrade until I got the 4s a couple of years ago. I figured I will get a new one when either this one starts to fade on me or there is a feature that comes out that I must have. Other than that, I don't upgrade very often anymore.

Just for funsies, here is my first smart phone (stylus and all):

I have a windows 8 phone on HTC.  Doesn't have the same # of apps droid and iPhone do but it's the most secure phone OS (ironically considering desktop security) and you don't look like a yuppie jackoff when you use your phone like iPhone users

Drove all the way out to the stupid mall, went to the Apple store, waited for them to get me the 5S and was in the process of activating it and because I'm a AT&T business account they couldn't do it. So I trekked up to the AT&T store and they told me I had to order one and it would be 7-14 business days. Yes, I know, first world problems but it just burned me. My iPhone is almost full and has been doing crazy shit. Must be all the porn.
