Does anyone think Theo and the Cubs will sign Ben Sheets, Kevin Millwood, Chris Young, Brad Penny or Joel Pineiro, etc to a one year deal to add to the rotation as a low risk, high upside reward in order to give the farm system time to develop some quality starting pitchers? This list is not limited so feel free to add and don't mention Rodrigo Lopez cause we know he could be back. Who would be the best option here.

I think you will see one of those type of guys come in....I would have to look at them closely...just by vague memory I think Penny or Pineiro had the best year of those guys.....
those are definietly some used up arms....lots and lots of mileage on those tires...

Agreed. I can't see the Cubs not bringing in at least one reclamation type like that.

Whoever it is I hope they can go 160 innings and stay healthy, I just want pitcher that can go 6 innings regularly and keep the ERA below 5.00

I've always liked Chris Young but doubt he can stay healthy anymore. How about bringing in Paul Maholm? He'll likely be more expensive then those guys but if his shoulders better he can throw at least 160 innings.

Maholm is definitely a better choice than the others on the list IMO even if its a more expensive contract. Kuroda would be a good option as well.

My guess is Saunders gets more than a "take a chance" contract. Wouldn't be the tiniest bit surprised to see him get 2/$10, 3/$15.I'm all for taking a chance on Saunders.

Latest report on Young was his agent said last week he would be ready by the time P/C report to spring training. Great numbers last year until he got hurt. Could bring high return... ...
