The Chicago Cubs treated fans to a surprise at yesterday’s game, utilizing the video board technology at Wrigley Field to do something for which fans have been screaming for years.
It was beloved former Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray taking us out to the ballgame on the video board:

Miss you, Harry. That gave me the warm fuzzies and some fond memories.
Hopefully that’s something the Cubs incorporate into the regular rotation. I understand that the “celebrity” singers probably aren’t going away entirely any time soon, and maybe it’s actually better to have Harry leading the stretch only occasionally – keep it special.
It certainly was yesterday.
From the sound of things, the Cubs do plan on periodically having departed Cubs figures leading the stretch on the board from time to time (Cubs.com). Done respectfully, that’s a fantastic way to honor their memories and connect with fans.
