Jake Arrieta was his usual dominating self, and, when you pair that with a softened White Sox lineup you get a performance like today’s. The home run was just gravy. Really, really awesome gravy.
The final score won’t knock you over, but there were some nice things to see in this one, including a three-hit day for Dexter Fowler, a triple from Kris Bryant, and a timely hit from Jorge Soler. It was a nice, relieving way to end the first half.
But, obviously, the star was Arrieta. He even finished things off by striking out the side in the 9th.
