Would it be smarter to sign Prince or Yu Darvish and Yoennis Cespedes?

No one can say for sure, because each comes with risk.

At each of their expected prices, I'd probably want Darvish the most (6 years, $100 to $110 million, total commitment).

Then it's a tossup for me because the range on Fielder could be so huge. Assuming Cespedes gets six years and $60 million, I'd prefer Fielder if he came at 5/$110 to $125 million. But I'd prefer Cespedes if Fielder required eight years.

If the Cubs get Darvish are they out on Fielder or could they afford both?

Could go either way. Getting Darvish could spur the Cubs on to a more aggressive approach with respect to 2012.

With 30+ million off the books they could like afford both, IMO but I'd like to see some of that surplus in the MLB payroll go into teh development system.

Where's the risk with Prince Fielder? His weight?
