=IF(Team A wRC+ > Team B wRC+,"Team A","Team B")

wRC+ correlates very well with winning.

Let's work with this.  Clearly I can't use wRC+ in high school baseball, though...

To the best of my knowledge, the best I can do is OPS. Is there a way I can link an excel file to these posts? That way you guys could see the numbers we're working with.

If I do the IF function, it just picks the team with the higher OPS. I don't need a function to state the obvious lol.

If I know what goes into wRC+ you most certainly can calc wRC+.  Then again, you will have to figure out the run value of everything according to the league.  That I have no clue how to do.

Your condensed formula should work.  Much easier to do IF statements if you have other cells do the calculations.

I'd have to play around in excel to figure out how to get the actual probability of who is going to win and you could run probability on what the score will be.

Man I hate that one creepy dude that always follows high school sports even though he never had any kids let alone a girlfriend. But since we are having fun here this is what I would come up with.

Color Point chart         Mascot Point chart

R=1                              Indian=1

O=2                              Dog=2

Y=3                               Fish=3

G=4                              Cat=4

B=5                              Bear=5

I=6                                Bird=6

V=7                              Old timey name=7

Mascot # + color # = Higher score wins.

I'm gonna name my team the Violet Steam Engineers and I'll never lose.

Until you play my Blue, Green, and Violet wearing King Henry's falconers

Well then, my rainbow colored Big Bangers are going to trounce all comers!

Rainbow colored Big Bangers ( I assume you mean an Indian banging on a drum)

(1+2+3+4+5+6+7) + 1 = 29

Blue, Green and Violet King Henry's Falconers

(4+5+7) + (7+6) =29

So like the 2002 All-Star Game this ends in a tie.

This is why it's impossible. There's no way for me to have the stats for every team in the area, let alone 2A (which is probably how I'd have to break it down).

If you figure out how to run the probability let me know. I was messing around in Excel and I couldn't figure it out.

Absolutely not, I am referring to the Big Bang.  Therefore:

(1+2+3+4+5+6+7) + 7 = 35 * 35 (since you can't get an older name) = 1225

I had a Big Bang one time, but in my defense, I was drunk and you could tell she would look nice if she lost weight.

wRC+ also includes park values as does OPS+. That's why I used a modified OPS. Those should all be numbers you can obtain on the teams. You may have to get the individual players and turn them into team state or even better use the daily starters stats.

A big question I have is: if he is the big sports guy in the area, why isn't he doing this himself instead of asking you?

Well, JH, you've got some work to do.

Come back when you have these numbers.

Even then, you would have to know what each point of net OPS meant.  Is .100 points of net OPS worth an extra 1 run or 10 runs a game?

Because he's stupid and actually thinks this is possible lol.

At first I thought he wanted some "rah rah" if we do this as a team we'll win "stat," but now it's clearly more.

The first time he asked me for a way to predict our W/L I gave him the pythagorean W/L formula. Then he started on wanting it for one game and I was just like, "uhh... okay?"

Well, JH, you've got some work to do.

Come back when you have these numbers.

lol alright. I'll get right on that.

https://www.dropbox....saon Stats.xlsx

Does this link work for you guys? I've never used dropbox before.

Okay, assuming it does:

This is an exported spreadsheet from gamechanger, so that's why none of the stats are formulas.

At the bottom of the first tab is where I added the OPS stat you gave me, along with the IF formula. The Opp OPS is just a dummy stat for now.

Does this even help at all? lol.

I'm on my iPad so I can't see inside the cells, but yes. That should give you the modified OPS stat if you linked them properly.

Okay, so we have the OPS stat and the IF function. Now we need to find the probability :)
