I’ve seen this game before! Well, mostly.
For the second straight game, the Cubs beat the Braves 4-0 the Cubs beat the Braves, um, 4-0 or 4-1 behind a fantastic starting effort, some late insurance run(s), and the bullpen finishing things off. James Russell and Jason Motte messed around a little in the 9th, hence mucking up a nice parallel structure between yesterday’s and today’s wins. #WriterProblems
Jorge Soler finally went deep again – a bullet to center field – and scoring eight runs in two games feels like an avalanche of offense. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the Cubs’ continued trouble with runners on base – they left 11 guys on base and were just 2-12 with runners in scoring position.
Jonathan Herrera and Chris Coghlan came through with some nice two-out, run-scoring hits, though. And the Cubs took a winnable series and won it. All is well.
And Jake Arrieta, man. That guy. Dude. That guy is something.
