In the top of the fifth inning of today’s Opening Day match-up between the Giants and the Diamondbacks, Giants’ starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner hit a monster home run off fellow ace Zack Greinke.
It was a notable home run not only because Bumgarner is a pitcher (and has historically been one of the better pitchers in baseball), but also because it was a 112 MPH blast – the hardest hit home run by a Giants PLAYER (including non-pitchers) since 2015.
Welp. Two innings later …

Yeah, that’s Bumgarner hitting his SECOND HOME RUN OF THE GAME (AND SEASON) in just the first game of the year. This guy is absolutely nuts.
Oh, and incase you were wondering, it wasn’t a cheap one:
Make it the top 4 …

Apparently, he got a little annoyed that some were calling Jake Arrieta the better overall hitting pitcher, so he set out to prove them wrong.
And guess what, I feel proved pretty wrong right about now.

If you’re keeping track at home, your to-date MLB home run leader is Giants’ pitcher Madison Bumgarner with two.
I guess I should mention that he also struck out eleven batters and walked none, but who cares about any of that, right?
