Holy Fuck.  Vince Gill was in Pure Prairie League.  How did I not know that?

Ah, now I get why I didn't know that.  Because it was the re-booted early 80's version of PPL, not the Bustin' Out version.

I had pretty much the same reactions when I found out, only separated by a much longer time. As frequently happened in the pre-Internet days, I had to suffer in ignorance for far longer than I should have.

Incidentally, for anybody who only knows his singing, Vince Gill is a certified bad-ass on guitar.

That I did not know.  Further research is warranted.

Try this one on for size. Make sure to stick around for the song... I think you'll approve of their selection:

Man Chet is mind shattering amazing, his album with Mark Knopfler is an amazing recording. What he pulls off on a Guitar looks effortless but is so complex and humbling. And yes Gill is quite talented.

Okay sit down and for the next 6 minutes be amazed. Yes your jaw will be on the floor and it's okay to cry. Be sure to see the whole performance because it's worth it. Enjoy.

Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins are beyond bad-ass. Knopfler is in "legend" territory, and Atkins is in "god" territory.

Plus, Knopfler did the The Princess Bride soundtrack. That fact alone makes him teh awesome.
