Last 4 years:
Hiroki Kuroda 41-46, Ryan Dempster 53-41
Hiroki Kuroda 699 IP, Ryan Dempster 824
Hiroki Kuroda 523 K's, Ryan Dempster 699
Hiroki Kuroda 3.45, Ryan Dempster 3.81
Hiroki Kuroda 8.6 WAR, Ryan Dempster 11.7 WAR
Kuroda will be 37 on opening day, Dempster 35...Kuroda has also pitched in a far better pitchers park the last 4 years...if the Cubs would eat some of Dempsters 14 million for 2012..would he not be just as good an option as Kuroda? Thoughts?
* wasn't sure if Demp had a no trade(should have assumed he did, it was standard Cub policy) and I had to rush to press as I was being called to Christmas dinner...as Brett and MG point out, he does, that could be a problem but I hope they explore it....

Hey, welcome, WV.I think Dempster qualifies as a 10/5 guy so he has no trade rights whether it was in his contract or not. Most of the guys that we complain about having no trade clauses have them from the CBA and not from the wording in their contract. At least at this point in time, maybe not at the signing of the contract.

I believe Dempster's first game as a Cub was Nomar's first game as a Cub in 2004. Also the first game Maddux tried to win #300. I was at that game because someone from the Scout message board bought a chunk of tickets so we could all hang out in person. Good time.

I think so, too.I think Dempster is more likely a trade deadline deal.
