I love me some walk-off hits, even in the minor leagues. And that’s especially true when they come with a fun celebration thereafter:
A solid shot up the middle for Albert Almora, and then a slide into the outfield. That was Almora’s second hit on the day, which came after a couple hitless days at the plate. Since those two games, themselves, came after his long hitting streak ended, it’s all good.
On the year, Almora is hitting .264/.317/.392, which is good for a league average bat in the Southern League (and, at 21, he’s one of the younger players in the league).
Dating all the way back to June 13, though, Almora’s been fantastic: .290/.354/.467 (132 wRC+), 7.4% BB rate, 11.6% K rate.
And it’s earned him a trip back onto the top 100 prospect list at MLB Pipeline, coming in at number 99.
