My fave ST experience was on the second game of the 2008 pre-season. We got off the plane, got our car, dropped our bags at the hotel, and scooted over to Hohokam about 20 mins late. While walking over to the ticket office to get some of the $6 lawn seats, we came across couple of scalpers trudging home laden with unsold tickets. After some discussion, my wife, son and I were able to grab a trio from them in the first row behind third base for $20. Total. It was my son's first professional ball game, and after serving him peanuts, hot dogs, and sno-cones -- like a champ -- I made a killer one-handed play on a ground-rule double ball for him from Alcides Escobar in the garbage time/scrubs play of the 9th inning.
The whole point of my story -- other than forcing you all down memory lane with me -- is that you should have no difficulty picking up tickets at the ballpark for games that early in the spring.
