Mark Prior struck out 16 Brewers in his 16th start of the 2003 season, on June 26.

How many League Championships has the Cubs franchise (going back to the beginning of organized baseball) won?

how could I forget 1908??

and you got me on a technicality.  Those are simply the years that they played in a world series.  I should have gone back to what many consider the beginning of the Cubs to 1876.   If that is the case, I can only guess that you will have to add about 7 more (maybe more) they started out like the current Yankees.

In fact....   the Chicago Cubs are the only professional team in sports history to have never had a loosing record.   I am talking about over all history of games played win and loss.  They have always had more wins than losses, and no other professional team can rightfully claim that.

Yup back to 1876.  You were 2 off, MLB.com has it listed as 16.  Otherwise you were spot on.

I wont give out the link (I may be using more from this page) but here is the answer:

The Cubs have won 16 league championships, but only one -- in 1945 -- since 1938. The other championships years are 1876, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1885, 1886, 1906, 1907, 1908, 1910, 1918, 1929, 1932 and 1935.
