Giancarlo Stanton broke into the league as a 20 year old back in 2010. Since then he has absolutely pulverized baseballs all over the field, and – including tonight – what was left of those baseball has left the field 210 times.
While that’s good for seventh most over that stretch, I don’t even have to look at the statistics to tell you that NO ONE hits baseballs as hard as he does. Tonight, naturally, he added two more home runs (#209 and #210), but they were two very different kinds of dingers.
Let’s take a look at the first one, which I’m pretty sure left a new crater on the Moon:

Indeed, according to Statcast, that homer (Stanton’s first of the season) stayed in the air for longer than a Vine and reached its peak at 144 feet.

But that wasn’t enough for Stanton. I mean, a 110 MPH homer, and that launch angle? Come on. That’s child’s play. Anyone can hit a homer like that.
So an inning latter, Stanton decided to remind us what it means to have real power:
.@KITKAT POWER! 🍫

Oh my, indeed.

According to Statcast, that homer came off the bat at 116 MPH and left faster than my ex-wife (Thanks, I’ll be here ’till Thursday).
And crazily enough, it reached a height that was just 1/3 of his first homer of the night:

After also adding a walk in the first inning, Stanton is now slashing .290/.371/.516 on the season, good for a 129 wRC+. Even when he isn’t fully himself, Stanton is one of the most prolific and powerful hitters of all time. He’s truly a generational talent.
Make sure you’re watching.
