Cubs Trivia:

Which Chicago pitcher threw complete game shutouts in both ends of a doubleheader on September 26,1908?

I will share the answer later today. My first thought when I read it was "Dusty's grandfather must have been managing".

I think these will make for a great series, Phil. One suggestion: it would be cool if you could somehow incorporated the substance into the title in a small way. Like, for example, "Cubs Calendar 1/2/12 - Doubleheader Shutouts." Just something like that to distinguish the threads, other than the date.

Despite my joke earlier (not serious about Tidrow), I could make a reasonable guess here...

1908 was the last time we won the Series...I know our best starter was Mordecai Brown that year, and I seem to remember someone with a sweet name like Orvil Overall.

Could it be either of them?
And that's a bad miss...

If I had to guess (which I do because I'm not going to Google it) I'd say Brown.

That would have been my guess as well.

Nice.
I did use Google but not for the direct answer. I looked up the 1908 pitching staff and took a guess.
People back then had some weird names.

I think we need to make a Dick Tidrow Trophy to pass to the winner each month
