Cubs Fact:

The only first basemen in National League history to have gone an entire game without a fielding chance are a pair of Cubs: Ripper Collins (June 29, 1937) and Fred McGriff (August 15, 2002).

By the way, I think Ripper Collins is one of the top 5 baseball names of all time!

I have worn #29 on the back of every sporting uniform given to me since 2001...when the Crime Dog came to the Cubs.

Best follow-through in baseball history. :)
And that's a bad miss...

Do "fielding plays" include putouts from catching a thrown ball and covering firstbase? Or just fielding batted balls?

I believe covering first counts as a fielding play, otherwise there would be a lot more than 2 guys.

How in the WORLD is that even possible? Wow. That's crazy. Lotta Ks and fly balls - was it a Kerry Wood game?

Man, looking back at that play-by-play, it's pretty incredible. Not a single ground out. The only infield grounder was an error on Alex Gonzalez. Weird. I wonder if anyone noted the oddity at the time.

Wow...I can't believe I forgot about Rosie Brown...I do miss the Sosa, McGriff, Alou days even though they were short-lived. Would be nice to have a heart-of-the-order that can actually do some damage again...
And that's a bad miss...

Impossible that Alex Gonzalez made an error, I can't remember one ball that he misplayed in his entire Cub's career.

Wow the Crime Dog was one of my favorite players! @wvcubsfan Alex Gonzalez was a walking error. lol. I had an autographed picture of him I got for Christmas one year and after that error in Game 6 my dad threw it away. I was happier when he did then when I got it. lol

He was also a stellar spokesperson for Tom Emansky's baseball video's. I spent countless hours trying to throw a baseball into a garbage can from 250 feet away because of those commercials.
