Cubs Fact:

Ernie Banks was the first Cubs player to have is number (14) retired by the organization.

Additional retired number trivia: Ron Santo's was the only number retired by the Cubs before that player was elected into the Hall of Fame.




* well, OK, I guess Maddux isn't in the HOF yet, but #31 belonged to Fergie -- and should have been retired -- long, long before Maddux ever wore it.

Could not agree more and as for Santo the man should have been in the Hall Of Fame long before we retired his jersey! Fergie was a legend for the Cubs and you are correct his jersey should have been retired long before Mad Dog came along!
