Sanchez and Bumgarner weren't all that great up until 2010. Bumgarner was only 7-6. Sanchez hadn't won more than double digits until then. It is a stretch but hey this is the off-season.

Our new coaching staff is going to be the wild card though. Bosio is going to be the one to watch more than the pitchers.

Well, Bumgarner was a total rookie, and had no ML track record, but Sanchez wasn't all that great in his seasons prior to 2010. But the Giants were young -- their top 4 starters were all under 27 on opening day 2010, and had signs that clearly indicated their potential. Oswalt and Dempster are both 34.

The key to come-out-of-nowhere seasons is a young team full of "upside surprise potential."

The Cubs have a few pieces like that - but not enough. Yet.

I understand. A lot can happen. Granted it would take a Miracle. (A horse is neighing in the distance.....)

Puff puff pass, people!

I love the optimism but I'm just hoping we don't finish dead last in the Central. Believe me, I hope it all comes together for a surprise season but I just don't see it.
