Cubs Trivia:

Which Cubs pitcher set a record for the most innings pitched in relief in one game on June 17, 1915, when he threw 18 1/3 to earn a win over the Dodgers?

the one morning I'm able to get to my computer to answer one of these things, and I have no idea. Why couldn't todays have been a little easier. Keep up the good work, this is one of my favorite parts of this site. I tend to know lots, but not all of them. I guess I'll just go back to bed

This is a tough one. I have never heard of this guy, but he has a great name for a pitcher!

My swiss cheese memory of playing old time SOM tells me they had Hippo Vaughn and Tom Cheney around that time. They both did something significant but I can't exactly recall what. Cheney might have struck out 19, maybe. Then told the crowd to "F off." Haha. Just kidding. He's not a "Dick".

Man, talk about pitching long relief. I had no idea either and looked it up.

The opposing pitcher went the distance in that one (can you say sore arm). The cubs starting pitcher came out of the game due his fingernail getting torn off on a comebacker (the internet is a great thing (I wonder if it will ever catch on)).
