When I was about 11 years old, I had an extremely awesome, gas-powered go-cart. Dressed up as a Nascar racer, with a painted #7 on the side, I used to cruise around in this thing like it was nobody’s business.
One fateful day, however, my friend hopped out of the go-cart a bit too soon, and with the gas pedal stuck down to the floor, the go-cart took off, barreling towards the one house on the street that was home not only to a police officer, but also his bright orange ’67 Chevrolet Camaro. With bated breath, we watched as this go-cart narrowly missed the officers car, running, instead, into his neighbor’s air conditioner.
Needless to say, that was the last day I ever drove the go-cart.
In some similar way, I bet that’s how young Red Sox star Mookie Betts feels right about now …

Apparently, just a few short days ago, the Red Sox’s pleasantly infamous center fielder (who can dunk at 5’9″ and is a great bowler – he’s bowled two 300 games) saw the above golf cart roll into the above pond. Lucky for him – and for us – no one was hurt, and we can just add this incident to the list of awesome things Mr. Betts has accomplished in his life.
I can’t wait to see what he does next.
