Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Carlos Silva, who’s been out for a couple weeks with an abnormal heartbeat, is out of the hospital now. He had a successful cardiac ablation (in technical terms: they tinkered with his ticker to get it ticking right), which was the same procedure former Cub Mark DeRosa had two years ago.
Pitcher Carlos Silva was released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Monday after undergoing what the Cubs said was a successful cardiac ablation.
The two-hour procedure, called radio frequency catheter ablation, was performed by Dr. Bradley Knight and was done to regulate an irregular heartbeat.
Silva left his Aug. 1 start at Colorado because of a rapid heartbeat. Daily Herald.
Silva is expected to take it easy for the rest of this week before beginning a throwing program next week.
