Dontrelle Willis (0-4, 4.10 ERA) vs Matt Garza (7-10, 3.64)

Today's Lineup

SS Castro, RF Johnson, 3B Ramy, 2B Baker, LF Soriano, CF Byrd, C Soto, 1B LaHair, P Garza

Remember when Willis was the Ace we gave away? Wow, how a career can take a dramatic 180, so here's to hoping that we can take advantage of a former Cub vs. letting a former Cub having a career game.

I won't be watching the game or paying attention so enjoy the thread. Hopefully someone is able to take the crown of reactionary, inconsistent play-by-play from the Goat.

Willis hasn't won in over a year, so I'd say today's the day...

Yeah, I'm thinking complete game two hitter from ol' Dontrelle.

He walks the bases loaded and the Cubs only manage 1 run? Sad.

I hope I'm not the only one who got to see the outfield hilariousness of Reed Johnson brutally missing a ball and then Marlon Byrd falling on the warning track. It was all kinds of ugly.

Where have all the comments gone about how Matt Garza was the biggest mistake ever?

I like Garza. He should be everything as advertised next year now that he's had a full season in the NL. Another great start.

Now, I need some help/opinion from others and clarify the 8th inning scoring opportunity by Soto when he was thrown out at the plate by a few feet. Was it the piano on Soto's back or was it another DeJesus mis-read? Hard for me to make the call on that one.

The more I think about it, the sadder I get about Dontrelle's absolute nosedive into obscurity. He seemed like a nice enough guy (obviously my feelings would be different if he had anything to do with the Marlins winning the 2003 NLCS, but he didn't really) and then just fell off the map. My opinion might be colored by the fact that I was in my early teens then, so maybe he wasn't as good as I thought, but I still get a little sad every time I think about his career trajectory.

Then I think about Mark Prior's and start to cry.

I saw it. I threw up in my mouth a little.
